BlackSheep Thanks! I started something like that with a site to try to create a municipal ISP in my city. There are already tons of online petition sites like Change.org, but I think a major part of being able to work to make ideas happen is connecting and collaborating with others, and that is what forums like Flarum are perfect for.
With sites like Change.org, tons of people just sign and hope that with enough signatures some politician or business owner will just do something because they see people care, but I think it is obvious that we need more than that; we need something more grassroots oriented.
If anyone is interested, on helping me with this, I'm already working on a test site: https://cityoflight.io (just a test site with a lot of placeholders, but working on backend functionality for now). I'd love to work with someone who has experience with PHP and making extensions for Flarum.
Initially, I thought that I should set up the site as you see it now with Flarum as a "Discuss" menu item that took you to the forums. However, now I'm thinking that really the ideal setup for this would simply be Flarum with one or two extensions for petitions and possibly integrated crowdfunding donations.
