Hosting Flarum in Production Environment

While I'm new to Flarum, I'll like to ask a few questions clarify some things.

While Flarum is in beta, can I use it in production environment when I'm still developing it? I will like to use Flarum in production environment once I get a reliable VPS. It will be public, but I will make it clear that it is in early stages. So they will know.

Flarum looks really great, compared to other software. Yet I'm not sure if I should use, since Xenforo and MyBB are in completing stages and hard to chose. MyBB might be free, but Xenforo is costly since it has many things that MyBB do not. Yeah, I know about MyBB 2.0 but still... There are many opinions, so I'll like some opinions about comparing Flarum to Xenforo and MyBB.

Yeah, I understand comparing a beta with another might be... you-know-what. Just compare of what Flarum will be with another one.

We recommend against running flarum in production. Still doing so is at your own risk.

luceos I do not plan to make Flarum the main software. I use will use esoTalk instead, and I can always place Flarum in a sub domain. What do you think about that, though?

wizard I don't mean to tell you to compare what Flarum is in right now to another software. I meant what Flarum will be (like planned features and other that's not implemented yet) to another software.

MyBB is not responsive till 2.0 . Xenforo as you know is not open source ( if you are a fan of it )

If you're fluent with the Flarum code, php and laravel I really don't see why not.

In my opinion, xenforo it is the best platform now. but I really want something simple and clean as flarum . I also tried nodebb some time ago and did not like the design.

Why don't you just do what others stated, or you can always just use Flarum and run it "at risk" till it hits a stable stage?
If you want to have the features or at least the view and some functions of Flarum, use esoTalk until Flarum is completed and there is a good merge system that gets created.

KnownSyntax That's what I'm going to do. Well, I'm not going to buy host right now, but someday (probably next year) I will. And I'm going to use this software. 😉

This may be out of bounds.. but being as how a forums main purpose to for communities to chat, etc.. how could you NOT use this in a production environment? Host it on your home private network and talk to yourself?

z1haze Flarum is still in beta, not supporting installations for million user fora is the only sane thing to do.

Formally allowing use of Flarum in production environments entails having to prevent updates from totally bricking your install. At this time Flarum is still in beta, so the official statement is to not use it in production.

You can totally use it in production, they're just saying by doing so you're both risking not being able to migrate the data over to the final product (if any large changes happen) or it'll be really really hard. That's all.
