Password encryption OR session in php files

Hi,

i'm using vb 4 and i have used vb 3 & 5

all of them have a good feature for coding a php file, winch you can include the global file and get the session and variables like

$vbulletin->userinfo['userid'];
$vbulletin->userinfo['username'];

so on, and its really a good thing and i hope we will see it in the next beta versions 🙂

anyway, i'm thinking to move to falrum with database contain more than 10k members, and i know its dangerous but we like to try something new and upgrade it when the next version ready.

we don't use vBulletin features we just type a simple threads and using our php files which manage a teamspeak 🙂

what we need [what you use with the Password encryption ?] we need to create a login with a new session in php files OR if its a private encryption not like MD5, We need a way to include the falrum session to our php files 🙂

Currently the logged in user is bound into IoC. I will not go into the depts of how/why this works, please read the laravel documentation about this.

What you could do to call on the user:

$user = app('flarum.actor');

You can now use all properties of that model:

$username = $user->username;

i try what you said, its wont work, and i try to copy some files and edit it but still same problem
if you have an example file for this. its will be helpful .

but flarum team will make it easier if they create a file have the basic

i mean like this for example :

and how about the Password encryption, is there any idea how its works ?
and is there any chance to change it to MD5 ?

Dramex I have to disappoint you. Let's make a comparison.

You probably have seen those VHS video system where you have to put in those video cartridges to record stuff. You are an ace at working with those things, you even created a little machine that would do magic stuff to the cartridge. Then at some point the CD-ROM comes along, you buy one of those and phone the supplier that you can't understand why the CD-ROM cannot fit into your magic box. In essence both VHS and CD-ROM do the same thing, but in a completely different way.

Bottomline; it's different technology, it's far more improved. So to answer your questions in detail:

If you want to do something "simple" you can read up on creating an extension. If you are unsure how to create one you can use the commandline tool flarum cd flarum; php flarum generate:extension
As to MD5 encryption. Laravel supports md5 as encryption so it should be possible to change that behavior in Flarum. I am not going to explain how for one reason; it's very, very, very insecure to encrypt your passwords with MD5. Read up on "rainbow tables" if you don't understand.

So once again, please be aware Flarum is a modern tool and therefore modern elements and best practices have been used to guarantee the best forum software available, as such the entry level might be a bit steeper.
