That plugin is compatible with wordpress, you can use that for SSO. As for the forum, it is just practice, and experimenting

There are numerous discussions already about installing Flarum on a number of hosts as well as detailed instructions on how to get an instance installed via Composer. I highly recommend searching the forum.
