I am preparing a German forum based on Flarum (don't panic, I don't use the beta version). But I already did two decisions: First: I will not use a language extension, but let Flarum be in English (because it is shorter and because I am convinced that German users are able to understand an English UX) and Second: I will deactivate the tags extension (because categories/tags etc. always cause hassle only). And I am so happy that Flarum allows to have a forum without any limiting structure.
