AMP really does not apply here, since Flarum transferred payload ist almost entirely JSON, not HTML.

Certain HTML tags are also banned: iframe, embed, object, and all script other than JSON (and the script that loads AMP in the first place). The main HTML5 multimedia tags, img, video, and audio, are replaced with custom elements amp-img, amp-video, and amp-audio.

itlo Malte Ubl (AMP Project Lead) points out that AMP does not make sense for javascript intensive pages, let alone webapps (which is what Flarum ist). 😉

From what I gather, AMP

shares a subset of HTML,
does not support JavaScript,
does not support third-party embeds like SoundCloud,
does support embeds from a pre-approved (by whom?) list of providers such as YouTube and Twitter,
forces you to replace <img> and <video> with their proprietary <amp-img> and <amp-video>.

It's an open source project, so anyone interested could create at PR and add to it. But if you want to be realistic, that will slow the process down, a lot. 😉

Oh you can send as many PRs as you want, for sure. They'll still have to be approved by a central authority though. Currently there are exactly 3 providers that have been approved: Instagram, Twitter and YouTube.

There's an amp-iframe element but it's not allowed within 75% of the top of the page.
