Emails will not send

Hi,
I've tried everything. I've read all the guides, and I've been trying to get this to work on and off for exactly one year and six days now, with no success.

So my Flarum won't send emails. Not on sign up, or on password reset, or on anything.
Believe me, I've tried everything.

So first of all I tried using the SMTP details supplied by my host (GoDaddy) and that did nothing.
I tried using the one from gmail as well, with the following settings:

driver: smtp
host: smtp.gmail.com
port: 465
username: **@gmail.com
password: ***
encryption: ssl
sender: noreply@**.gs

When the mail driver is "smtp" I get an "oops an error has occurred" when I try and use it. (Connection refused #111) When the mail driver is just "mail" nothing happens at all.

After Gmail didn't work I used the SMTP from my Zoho pro account, using the settings provided to somebody in a support file.

Exactly the same issue.
Same with mailgun, mailjet, and every other SMTP service I tried to use.

I've tried switching to a different host as well, still no luck.

Can somebody tell me what I need to do to make any emails send? I don't care if they end up in spam, or even on the moon, just as long as they send.
I've been using Esotalk because it doesn't need any SMTP special settings to work, but Esotalk is no longer viable.

Moderocky my setting waas like that before but i change :

driver: mail
port: 587
encryption: tsl

now it works for me i don't know why... try it !

KazeroG when set to mail, all SMTP fields have no effect. It uses the sendmail system process (which is often blacklisted when doing this from VPSes)

Moderocky I suggest you try tls for encryption.

From the error messages you got it looks possible your host did not allow whichever port you're using for SMTP or is blocking SMTP traffic altogether (like DigitalOcean by default). Did you ask your webserver host(s) whether your server is allowed to connect to external SMTP servers ? This might be something enabled on demand only.

Could you maybe list the hosts you've tried ? this might give us some clues.

Moderocky well if you've tried everything I guess there is no fix ??

The send will have to be the same as the username. So if you are using your Gmail account, the send will have to be the Gmail account.

Most often I use GoDaddy, and it's not the basic plan, either. I've tried Flarum with some others like Hostinger. I've also run it off a self-managed server from Zare, so I am pretty sure it's something I'm doing that's causing the problem rather than the host, although if there's some way of checking I'll try that.

As other applications (esotalk, website contact forms) are able to use sendmail, I don't see why Flarum would be any different in this regard. (And yet it doesn't send, even with the default mail driver)

What hosting provider do you use? Digital ocean for instance has blocked their outgoing mail recently with their ongoing promotional activities to prevent outgoing spam runs. I've seen local companies do the same.

Some companies bind it to how old your account is, others require you to contact support. That last path will at least give you an answer.
