In general, we are trying to provide a mobile-friendly experience on the website, so that a dedicated app is not necessary.

Of course, the community can build apps using Flarum's API, if anybody wants to.

What would such an app offer over the actual forum, though?

For me the prime advantages of having a native(ish) app are push notifications and a badge which indicates the number of open notifications. An app is also present on the homescreen which is much easier to tap than going to your webbrowser and entering an URL or tapping a bookmark.

BartVB You can add websites to the homescreen as well. Improving that process (browsers can be nudged to suggest doing so to users) and notifications are on the roadmap.

I would be more than happy with that if this would allow for push notifications and badges which is not the case on iOS. They recently added quite a few 'progressive web app' features to iOS but notifications are still not possible.

An added advantage of an app is that there are a few more options for monetization.
