Minecraft Validation Extension

I'm planning on using this (eventually) for a Minecraft server forum. Would anyone like to make an extension that checks to see if someone has a paid Minecraft username, and makes them change their username if they change their username at Mojang? This would be helpful to many server admins, and would defeat spammers. There's a URL that returns "false" or "true" depending upon the username's status.

jordanjay29 Yeah, I don't believe they have anything built in for username validation, only things to return different things like skins or something.

Are you talking about doing this in conjunction to a server or just a OAuth like Minecraft Premium account login button?

Kakifrucht Either would work, just a way to validate that a username is premium, and, hopefully, if the user who is registering an account on the forum owns the associated Minecraft account.

So you are talking about validation from the forums side and not from a Bukkit plugin?

Kakifrucht Yes ideally, but if it were linked to a plugin that would also work. I think a plugin might be the only way to verify ownership.

A forum plugin could verify if a name is in use, possibly link the UDID and update the name as necessary...

I am looking for someone that can help create an extension that would allow it so that when you are registering it checks if you are using a valid paid minecraft username. You can please let me know and we can discuss further.

This should be relatively easy there are I'm sure plenty of sites with APIs that check for MC usernames. Shouldn't be too hard. I'll check into it. I'm new to Flarum so I'll need to learn Flarum a bit first and then I can certainly look into it for you.

If we can get this done, that would be amazing ? Basically just looking for something that checks if the provided username at signup is a premium minecraft name or not and if it isnt it rejects the signup.

Actually I have a GitHub repo and everything for it, and I have the basic files but I just can't for the life of me figure out how to get it appear in the admin panel for Flarum. I'm talking to people on Gitter about it soon. Sorry for the delay, I have other projects and it's summer for me so I'm out of school so I tend to mess around a lot, sorry ? Anyways, will work on it today, try and get some answers.

Mortiferr This is quite an old thread, but I found this again and am still interested.

jordanjay29 That has a different goal, more so connecting to server to the forum. I might want to look into that, if the plugin is updated, but it's not quite what I'm aiming for at the moment. I'd just like to validate if a signing up user is a valid Minecraft username, or better, if they own the account. The latter would be awesome.

Minecraft has unofficial oauth (link), maybe it can be used with one of the SSO plugins ? User39
If not you'll have to make another extension to handle this
