Help me create a Wordpress site with flarum as its forum

Hi folks.
Hi need some help.
I want to create a Wordpress site eg. www.mysite.com
I want to have flarum forum to launch as www.mysite.com/forums
Has anyone around done this before?
can you instruct me with the installation location process?

I suggest you to use a subdomain to place your forum instead use a folder. In other words, you want this:

www.yoursite.com
www.yoursite.com/forum/

And i suggest you to use a subdomain to your forum:

www.yoursite.com
forum.yoursite.com

Why i suggest you this? Because is easier to mantain (from my point of view). And if my SEO experience counts, this is a good idea because forums have user generated contents (sometimes no ideal contents), that can hurt your blog's SEO in long term. Since you place differente contents on different domains, the problem dissapear.

I did what you are trying to achieve and all runs smooth. Just check:

Wordpress blog: www.vozidea.com
Flarum forum: foro.vozidea.com

About how to do this is hard to answer without more details. For example:

What kind of hosting do you have? VPS? Shared hosting? Company? (remember that flarum needs shell access to install, update and maintain).

Wow guys. I am surprised this hasn't gotten more attention. I would think it popular.

I am open to the subdomain vs subfolder structure.

Is this still the best suggestion?

What if the forum is on Speech Language Pathology - not likely to generate much objectionable content, in other words?

I have Shared Hosting on MochaHost (shoutout)- who has SSH, command line (terminal), ftp, etc. access AND cPanel.

I have successfully installed and configured (with extensions from FoF) two flarum forums. I went by the Installation Instructions. https://docs.flarum.org/

You can see one live now at figroots.com.

Now I would like to take the next step and install a Flarum forum as a Page (not the home page) in WordPress.

This is for slpWOW.com, I'm using a fresh WordPress install with GeneratePress.

I installed Flarum already in the root directory (home/maindomain/slpwow.com/) - note slpwow.com is an addon domain to /maindomain/ because it's shared hosting).

Flarum runs fine from https://slpwow.com/
and WP runs fine from https://slpwow.com/wp/

I just need to link them...

I created a new Page ("SLP Talk", slug="slp-talk") in WordPress (automatically set URL to https://slpwow.com/wp/slp-talk/).

But how do I direct the menu link in WP to run the Flarum forum when clicked?

I saw the 303/permanent redirect, edit htaccess file etc. when I searched, but I don't know which is the best way?

Papa you have to think of Flarum as a separate application.

Flarum is installed separately, as you seems to already have achieved successfully.

In the WordPress menu, you can include a link to your Flarum as an external website link.

You don't need to create a "page" in WordPress for Flarum, there's no way to display Flarum inside of Wordpress itself. Unless using an iframe, but I wouldn't recommend it as it would be very bad for accessibility and perma-linking.

You only need HTTP redirects if you change the URL of Flarum or Wordpress later and you already have users or search engines already indexed the website. If you have not launched the website yet, you don't need to worry about it, you can move your website in a different subfolder or subdomain if needed and just update your links with the new URLs.
