Those "weird phrases" are references to reused strings, which can be found under the ref: namespace.
They shouldn't be displaying if you've installed Flarum correctly. Unfortunately you've told us practically nothing about your installation, se we can only guess what's going on. I suspect you may be trying to use a Beta 2 language pack with a Beta 3 Flarum installation. If that's the case, it won't work.
The language pack format has changed drastically with Beta 3, and we're still in the process of documenting the new system. I'd recommend waiting until the documentation is ready.
