marty85 Hi, i very like Flarum but.. here are some reasons why I think it is useless.
It probably doesn't serve your needs.
If I understand correctly, I need some server to install Flarum.
No, you won't. You just need SSH access and either Composer installed or being able to install it yourself (a one-liner in the console).
90 percent of people have classical hosting and no server or vps. And 90 percent people of world dont know what is fu.. composer ?
90% don't have a website at all. Too bad they can't use Flarum. What a shitty software.
If you want to set up a forum, you should walk through the alternatives and then decide for the hardware setup that fits your chosen forum solution. You should not opt for the hardware first and then blame the chosen software if it doesn't fit.
Why someone else nowadays creates such complicated systems as Flarum - with regard to installation.
I think it's not complicated, instead it's very elegant. I wouldn't like to have to take care of all the dependencies myself.
Why can not I install Flarum on classic hosting, such as phpbb, xenforo, vbulletin and x others.
Flarum is not an oldschool software like the others, so its requirements are different. Try to setup Discourse, it's even more special, much more special.
One day Flarums software approach will be more mainstream and so solutions like SSH access and Composer will become more mainstream, in fact they are already to a certain extend.
That's why I'm asking is there a normal version for installing on classic hosting? (not VPS, who has to pay such prices for the monthly vps price)
Again, you don't need a VPS. Look up my link above.
