How to make a language pack?

Hi,

there are some information on language packs but not on how to packaging and updating them.

So my question is, how to make a language pack for the new composer infrastructure of beta4? I tried to update an exiting language pack but failed to get it running.

We're working on the documentation now. Please be patient, the docs will be ready before very long.

In the meantime, you might want to look at some of the other language pack threads. @Qiaeru has the French pack fully updated for Beta 4, so you can look at how he's done it. He's also been providing some other localizers with tips on getting their packs updated; his comments to them may also be helpful to you.

Things to change:

You do not respect the standardization of the .editorconfig file. You should indent your composer.json file content with a two spaces indentation (I see you use four spaces for now) or edit specifications of this file.
You should change the package name here to "cbmainz/german" (the directory containing your language pack content will have to be named cbmainz-german/).

You should adapt the informations about the former language pack with your language pack ones here and here. For the author informations, something like that is okay to give credit to the original author:

You should change the language name to the English name, "German", here. It will be seen by admins and they do not have to speak German to install your language pack. Note that the locale name is good here, you should keep it like that, because it is used on the language selector, and only German speakers will be interested to select it.
You should add your name on the license file.
You should remove these lines in the locale/config.js file.
IMPORTANT: You are using old locales content! Please update your YAML files with the content of the new ones! See the English language pack and update your files, or it will not work with the recent betas.
You can base your localization for the locale/validation.yml file with this available localization.

After performing all these changes (basically, creating your language pack), you can submit your language pack to Packagist to be available via the composer require cbmainz/german command.
