Parse error in index.php flarum script

hi ,

i download this : https://discuss.flarum.org/d/1437-i-need-a-flarum-script-link-to-download/5

an upload it on my cpanel host . after Extact and open site , i see this error :

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '[' in /home/imdpir/public_html/talk2/index.php on line 31

how can i fix this and install flarum ?

OPS! i think this need PHP 5.5 !

how can i install flarum in lower PHP Versions ?!

masih1994 I'm afraid that you can't install Flarum on PHP versions lower than 5.5.

Does your host propose a way to change your PHP version ?

HavocK i don't know that my hosting can upgrade PHP or not , but i tell them and waiting for replay .

why flarum don't try to match Flarum with many systems ? (Requirements) ? this is better that many people use flarum .

masih1994 I think it's not that simple. PHP 5.4 is not even in active support. Only security fixes will eventually come out.

Flarum is a "nextgen" forum, so it sould use a "nextgen" (or more "currentgen") language.

I find that really weird that a webHost still propose PHP version under 5.5. (my opinion)
But i know that not all scripts are compatible to new versions of PHP.

Choose your host carefully, not the cheaper. 🙂

Not even that. PHP 5.4 has already reached end of life - the oldest version with security support is 5.5 at this time.
