Flarum will be revolutionary: now it's clear.
What do you think to be revolutionary also in the markup adopting the father of all the markups?
I think textile could be perfect for Flarum!

We're currently planning to implement Markdown (or CommonMark, to be precise).

I'm sure Textile support could easily be added as an extension...

I'll move to Flarum from a phpBB install.
All my old threads/entries formatted with BBcode won't work?
I have to find a way to translate them into Markdown or Textile before migrating to Flarum?

Probably, yeah. I think this package may be able to help, though. Maybe we can even put it into our importer...

@Franz, talking about importers: is there any timeline for those? Sorry to revive this thread, but all my search terms (phpBB AND importer) were mentioned here. 😉

There's no definitive plan yet, as far as I'm concerned, that's why I was so careful.

What I can say is that we'll definitely have importers for both esoTalk and FluxBB. I also plan to implement some for the most important forums (though probably not all at first), which likely include phpBB, SMF and vBulletin. And why not Discourse. 😉

This will be great for beta, but honestly, not everyone knows how to code in markdown or textile efficiently. We should really include a "true" markdown editor (with bold, italicize, and underline buttons in the header or something). It would be nice to add it as an extension.

Something like https://stackedit.io/editor would be great.

Just a few buttons over the message area to insert basic markdown syntax are enough in my opinion. It's not a blog, users usually don't spend time to format their posts.

A preview button would be a nice feature to have. But loading a huge / slow / buggy WYSIWYG editor is overkill.
