Two strange issues following install..

Configuration: Ubuntu 14. Nginx. Flarum beta-3

My Flarum site is now up & running. But I've got a couple of strange issues.

1) Instead of having labels, all the UI controls in the admin panel and front end are denoted in a kind of reverse domain format: core.admin.nav.dashboard_button , core.admin.permissions.moderate-heading etc. instead of having maybe a section title. The icons show up fine, it's the text / labels.

2) I went to finish off the SMTP setup as per http://flarum.org/docs/installation/ but when I browse to the settings table in my db the values for, say, mail_driver, mail_from, welcome_message and everything else in that table are all BLOBs rather than text. Therefore; impossible to edit in phpmyadmin.

I trashed everything and started again from scratch to try and fix this Filesystem files and MySQL database were removed. Even restarted MySQL and Nginx. Same situation after repeating the install process.

Anyone got any ideas?

If the extensions don't show up on the first composer update, do it again.

Many thanks, I now have an extensions folder full of extension and was able to enable English in /admin. I had tried that post earlier today...just hadn't tried it twice ;-)

Does anyone have any ideas about point 2?

Steve1215 you can manually run the query using an SQL field. Or what some people do is edit the table fields to TEXT instead of BLOB. I advise against the second option, unless you really don't know how to run/create raw SQL queries..

You can run something like:

update `settings` set `value` = 'newvalue' where `key` = 'mail_*';

update newvalue and * where needed
