Create users without email

I am using flarum within our small team to use it as a wiki for dicumentation (I like the markup feature and reader friendly design). The problem is I don't have/want to setup an email server for notification/activation/creation of a new account. Is it possible to add couple of users (maybe in a hacked way like adding manually to mysql?)

Did you try adding a row to the users table in your Flarum database, and populating it with the basic id, username, email, is_activated, password, join time fields?

Tell them to register as if they had an email (use a fake one)... it will not be sent... and then change from 0 to 1 the table in the mysql db.

pavs Do you have access to mysql via phpMyAdmin? That's a useful GUI interface that will allow you to manipulate MySQL databases in a browser. If you have a host with Cpanel or Plesk, you probably have phpMyAdmin.

If you do not like to setup a Mail Server (which I do not like either), you could just use an external Mail Provider, such as Mailgun, Mandrill or Sendgrid, and use their SMTP servers.

jordanjay29 I have direct cli access. Its not a vps, its a local server. I am generally good with linux, but not good with mysql. Dont want to break something trying to poke around without knowing what I am doing.

pavs If it's a local server (your's? or a company's?) then you could probably install phpMyAdmin if you so desired. Or you could install MySql Workbench. Both would provide a GUI interface if you're not comfortable with CLI.

Otherwise, learning the INSERT command syntax would probably be all you need for this task. SELECT would be useful to review the entries, but not required.

Check this regarding setting up SMTP. There is no interface, so you will have to add the entries in the database manually.

Did it with phpmyadmin. After creating account just changed is_activated entries from 0 to 1 using phpmyadmin, was really easy. Thanks guys for your help.

Never mind I saw the updade installation direction using composer. Unfortunately after installing it and trying to enable it from extension tab it broke flarum. It gives a server error 500.

Got this from apache2 error log:

Deleting the extension folder fixed it. but the extension seems to be broken for the latest beta. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.
