Yes, you can enable BBCode or Markdown parsing through the extensions in the admin panel. Neither formatting is built into the core, so anyone could code a drop-in replacement system as an extension for use, too.
As for the Facebook, did you check that the app ID and app secret are pasted in properly? If you stored it elsewhere, double check, and if not try making a new one and changing the settings in Flarum.
