I believe og:description is set to whatever that is set in the admin panel
Forum Description
Enter a short sentence or two that describes your community. This will appear in the meta tag and show up in search engines.
However, for threads the og:description should take the first few paragraphs of the first post. At this moment, if I want to share the latest beta version of Flarum to all my friends on facebook (https://discuss.flarum.org/d/1377-flarum-v0-1-0-beta-4-released/)
It shows:
Title: Flarum v0.1.0-beta.4 released - Flarum Community
Description: Get support using and extending Flarum, the next-generation forum software that makes online discussion fun.
It would be more appropriate if it shows:
Title: Flarum v0.1.0-beta.4 released - Flarum Community
Description: Two beta releases in one week? You bet(a)! Just a few tweaks and bug fixes in this one. In particular, this fixes a couple of critical bugs in beta 3 where tags were not editable and translations weren't showing up. See below for the full changelog.
