An upgrade tool by flagrow

Hello everyone,

Last night I worked on a little command line tool that will allow you to upgrade flarum in a less painful way.

Instead of arbitrarily running composer update and identifying incompatible extensions, I'm using our database on flagrow.io to check for a newer flarum version and identify which extensions you installed are compatible with that newer flarum version. By offering you a clear overview of extensions that should be removed you should be able to get better insights into updating flarum. In addition it will be able to run the upgrade on your behalf should you agree to that.

What I'd like to know is whether this is something you'd like to use and whether you think this should be a paid, free (closed source) or open source tool.

It is hard not to come straight out and say "Open Source" ? We are after all using open source software...
Alas, I believe most successful OS projects wont become as such without commercial interest growing around it.

I would suggest that the compatibility check would be included in bazaar in one way or another, but that this tool be commercial.

Be it the tool itself costs money, or that it's free, but you tie it up to a managed service. (We can do it for you thingy).

No matter how you end up doing this, it will be great ?

That should count out your hosting service if you want to use Flarum.

As this tool is a little helper and not required to update Flarum, I don't see a need to make it open source.

Moreover, if Flarum shall become a thriving platform ways of remuneration for professional developers are essential.

Pollux I am well-aware of the "official" requirements. Pockethold and other non-SSH users do exist, though. ? Getting back on topic, this upgrade tool is quite useful for those who do have SSH access.
