The start of a new series
Until now, Toby has been keeping all of you in the loop about new releases. That is not the only activity that makes Flarum what it is. Behind the scenes a lot of discussion is going on, including how to organize, develop, document and much more... With these series, we hope to improve the transparency of these decisions, because what eventually ensures Flarum's success is you.
So what has changed?
In preparation of the release of beta-4, @Dominion has been spending tremendous efforts of overhauling all translations, while boosting him to the #3 contributor of the flarum project. This process identified additional talents, for which he has been given the role of i18n lead in the core team, becoming the third core member after the founders Toby and Franz.
For my increased efforts in organizing the community, I gladly accepted Toby's request to become the community manager and the fourth core team member. This offers Toby some relief, taking responsibility to get staff and other daily chores out of his way, so he can focus on improving Flarum.
Moderators
As both @Dominion and I have been initially made responsible for moderating and both of us now have different roles, it was time to bring new flesh on board for this specific task.
Our belief is that moderation must be done the right way to ensure the healthiness of the community. For this reason, @jordanjay29 has been asked to take up these responsibilities. Having recently joined the forums, his comments and tone immediately received an unamimous positive vote.
Documentation
One part of the Flarum website we are currently planning on revising, is the documentation. A task which requires an eye for detail and immense effort. Having spotted both @wackyMole and @BlackSheep initiating additional documentation (in the form of tutorials) and feedback on Gitter, made us decide to extend an invitation to the documentation team, which they both gladly accepted.
@BlackSheep has been assisting in many other tasks as well and is a formidable generalist addition to the team. Whereas @wackyMole has broad experience with server management and will most definitely be valuable in that area as well.
Please note, we will not take any applications for staff positions at this time. If a spot is open and your behavior suits the position, we will personally reach out to you.
Shout outs
We'd like to take this opportunity to give two extensions some deserved attention:
Extensions like these, your efforts in reporting bugs and taking the time to deliberately discuss new features are what a great community is about.
