There's been an interesting discussion around Redis changing its licenserecently. Here's a nice summary:

It postulates that an OSS project can only make money through:

Open core, paid premium features (paid extensions and revenue sharing through a marketplace?)
SaaS
Consulting, custom development

It seems the SaaS route is the most logical way for Flarum. What do you think?

I am quoting Toby himself on this one:

Toby I'm not too concerned about making a profit either. It would be nice to be able to have enough donations coming in through the Patreon to not have to worry about doing client work. And it would be nice to set up an official SaaS one day, once the software is stable. But for now, I consider that a distraction from my primary vision – making awesome forum software.
