Hi, I've been looking at 'forum' solutions for a small cohousing community. We're about 30 people of all kinds and ages, and we're looking for a good alternative to millions of messy emails back and forth. I've set up Flarum on my local machine to test, and here's what I'm really liking: clean looks, simple yet flexible and expandable, fairly easy to understand for non-techies, and self-hosted so affordable.
I'm still not sure though, and here's why: as far as I can see, development here moves rather slowly. This is not a knock on all the fantastic work that's been put in, just an observation. For example, we would really like/need features like email digests and group mentions – I can't expect everyone to visit the forum every day. I see discussions from years ago about these features, but no real progress as far as I can tell?
Again, I hate to be critical of the thousands of hours already put in, and I'm aware of all the "don't use this in production" warnings, but I'm a little torn here. I've briefly looked at the alternatives, but they all seem bloated or daunting, while Flarum gave me a great first impression. Forgive me this pretty vague post, I guess I'm just wondering: is it a good idea for me to 'invest' in Flarum?
