jacko Editing language phrases from admin panel - is it planned?
I actually wrote a really long proposal about that a while back. But as luceos said, it is something that isn't likely to happen pre-release. In the meantime, it isn't hard to localize Flarum by editing the text files that contain the resources. We've put a lot of work into making the translation process fairly easy.
jacko How could I create my own language? Is making a copy of vendor/flarum/flarum-ext-english enough?
Yes, the most convenient way is to fork flarum/flarum-ext-english and use that as a basis for translation. You'll need to do the following things to complete your language pack:
- Change the name of your repo from
-english to -whatever (use your language's name, of course).
- Edit the
composer.json file with the proper details for your language and locale.
- Translate the language resources in the
locale folder.
- Add a
config.js file with the moment.js translations for your language to the locale folder.
For an example of how that last point is done, you might want to check out the French language pack by @Qiaeru . He can probably help you with any sticky points in the process.
... But first, have you checked out the existing language packs? It could be there's already a pack for your language.
