flarumer1 But how is tracking IP addresses not a concern for privacy?
Bare IP address is just a bunch of numbers, that are not connected to one network user. In most cases you share IP address with other people. In home network, academic network, or mobile. Actually, nowadays there is small chance that you have your personal IP address, so tracking base on it is pointless.
I understand and respect, that you may not like Google and want to get rid of it as much as you can, but tracking is not something that occurs here.
Real tracking may happen when you for example turn on Google Analytics on your site, and they connect your user id with your profile. But that does not have to occur, it may just be anonymous stats. So don't be too afraid about it? It is always good to know how things works. This is not magic?
But regardless of motivation for it, question remains the same, and I am also curious - is it possible to get rid of Google without extension?
