2015 has been a huge first year for Flarum. We've gone all the way from prototype to production, with the first public beta released halfway through the year. As we break for holidays, we wanted to leave you with a recap of how far we've come and what's in store for next year!
The Road to Stability
On the road to a stable release, so far we've released three subsequent betas:
- Beta 2 squashed bugs reported from the first beta and made some critical improvements to the installer.
- Beta 3 adopted Composer to manage dependencies and extensions β we're really thrilled by the amount of extensions that have been popping up since then. @Dominion spent countless hours perfecting the translation infrastructure for this beta. And there were a handful of new features too!
- Beta 4 fixed some critical bugs in beta 3.
Beta 5 is well on its way with some important improvements to security, many bug fixes, and a few new features. Look out for its release in the new year!
We've made good progress, but there's still a lot left to do before we can remove that "beta" label. One of our holiday tasks will be to properly triage the 197 open issues and come up with a more solid roadmap for subsequent releases. Stay tuned!
Community & Documentation
@luceos has been doing an amazing job managing the Flarum community and keeping all aspects of the project moving forward. With a team gathering around us, there's a lot of exciting stuff in the works for 2016, including a new website, complete documentation, an easier way to install on shared hosts, and more ways for you to support the project.
From all of us here working on Flarum...
