ozzzzam that's because HTML tags aren't parsed at all. This could be enabled with an extension but I'm not sure whether one exists at this time.

But the url is auto-linked, that's why there's an <a> in there.

ozzzzam just to add to what Clark said, if you want to embed an image in a post, turn on either the Markdown or BBCode extensions in your admin panel and then use the following syntax:

[img]https://example.com/image.jpg[/img]

ozzzzam Flarum does not support HTML for it's post content. That'd be a security issue if done incorrectly. One can only use BBCode and Markdown with the respective Flarum core extensions. All HTML is encoded.
