How to tell what these EXTENSIONS do (freeflarum version)

PROFILE IMAGE: I have this extension OFF but I am still able to add an an image (to me as the admin). So why am i able to as what is the functionality of this extension if I add it?

MARKDOWN and MARKDOWN EDITOR are both enabled. Does one work without the other? What are the differences?

BB CODE AND BB CODE FA (???) are listed. Again, does one work without the other? I typed : ) but nothing displayed.

EMOJIS is on but I do not see a lit of emojis to choose from.

Likewise, SOCIAL MEDIA icons does not display any.
