Missing Icons/Images

The last Beta 8 issue, after hours of work and no more coffee supplies. We are not seeing any icons on the site after the update.

Sorry if this already appears somewhere in the discussions. All I need is to fix this and get some sleep. 😫

fa-regular
fa-solid

also please check your browser console, and post here the errors.

I know it's something so simple, but have you cleared your browser's cache? This has happened to be a couple of times before and it has fixed itself after a couple of hours.

Several times. Did not fix the issue.

And it's not only Font Awesome, but all icons + profile pictures and other images.

I guess it was never overwitten by your update to Beta 8

ralphskie I'm aware of that, but I'm following the instructions given by Toby. They clearly say Copy over the following files from your old Flarum installation: assets.

In essence that's correct but, after that it makes sense to also copy back the font awesome fonts:

$ cp vendor/components/font-awesome/webfonts/* public/assets/fonts/

This will copy over the latest font awesome files.

luceos It's not only FA icons, but profile pictures + all media shared over the last few days. Including the logo and the site icon.

Also, most of us are not experts and there are little details that haven't been mentioned in these instructions. I've been trying to figure out things for 12 hours now, following and starting discussions.

Beta 8 has been a huge facelift and we could expect some complications, especially for shared hosting environments.

Can you explain what issues you are currently facing? Are the avatars now working? The logo?

Not seeing any graphics on the site after copying Assets. That includes icons, profile pictures/avatars, site logo. Profile pictures show a blue square with a question mark. And they do exist somewhere since you can Remove them.

Trust me, it does not make any sense for people who are just starting to learn things and following Toby's instructions step by step.

As I can see the icons now, we can easily update all profile pics manually, but with a future update, we might face the exact same issue, so I'd rather know how to fix it. And thanks for your patience. I understand this can be quite annoying.

Chris89 there's no avatars directory inside your assets, seems like you didn't copy that over?

luceos I only copied what was given in the instructions. No extra dev logic and brain cells have been involved in the installation. There's hundreds of files and folders.
