Hello everyone,
It's been way too long since the last update here. My responsibilities in the Flarum team have required my attention, drawing them away from the Flagrow.io platform and the companion extension Bazaar. These two have, under the circumstances, grown exceptionally hard to maintain by myself.
For that reason I decided to write a future proof, scalable solution as extiverse.com. It introduces increased flexibility for premium extension developers with different plan periods (single payments, daily, weekly, monthly and yearly) and a trial period. But I also decided to remove many features that didn't feel necessary or overly convoluted like the Bazaar integration.
The Corona Virus has shown that empowering developers to earn from their hard work in building quality extensions is a valuable thing to pursuit. That's why I decided to invest more time in this rewrite/successor than I have in the past year.
Extiverse will soon replace Flagrow.io. I'm hoping this can happen within a few months, at the current rate it might be sooner than later. When it lands, no new user signups nor subscriptions will be possible from the old platform. During the grace period of one month, Bazaar and the site will keep functioning, after that both will be brought offline. Running subscriptions will be cancelled afterwards as well.
The premium extension developers will be able to ready up to provide their extensions through Extiverse ahead of a release. User accounts will be transferred, so you can easily log in if you had an account on Flagrow.io. You do need to set up your payment information again if you're going to subscribe to any of the premium extensions.
Can I already use Extiverse? To discover extensions, yes! To subscribe to premium extensions, no. Once the release is officially announced, public sign ups and log in will be enabled allowing anyone to use Extiverse as an immediate replacement to Flagrow.io.
What will happen to Bazaar? I am toying with the idea for a replacement extension. However my priority right now is to improve and extend onto Extiverse before adding another layer of complexity. Bazaar will no longer be maintained and will be removed from packagist after the aforementioned grace period.
How can I download premium extensions with Extiverse? Instructions are provided after you've activated your first subscription. These instructions require you to modify your composer.json
file. Extiverse now uses private packagist in the background, which provides the added benefit of faster downloads through composer.
Thanks for reading all this, if you have any questions feel free to ask them 🙂
