I am thinking of switching to digital ocean for hosting my website. It will be cheaper and I can have more control over everything. What recommendations does everyone have as far as which plan to choose. I was thinking the 20 dollar plan but maybe I don't even need that many resources. Currently there aren't any people registered on my site, but I am going to start working on that even more coming up here. I plan on also hosting another website or two. I believe I can do that under the same droplet. I believe that is what digital ocean calls their virtual servers.

One of the other sites will be a genealogy site. There are quite a few photos and media. Those files may be anywhere from one to three gig.

I am sure there are more experienced people here than me that can give some advise with this. Thank you in advance.

I use the $10 plan for several websites.

You can always start small and increase your server capabilities as you need. Better than spending money you don't have to.

My current plan expires in Feb 2019 I believe so I am going to let it expire and will probably setup the digital ocean stuff around the end of Jan. I will be moving my domain name over to another register that I have been researching. They are cheaper when it comes to registering a domain and have been around for a long time.

I wanna switch from GoDaddy as well soon. Currently I'm paying ₹5000 ($70 USD) per year with GoDaddy.

I had two .com domains from them, and a starter linux hosting as well as a email service. It's always an issue, because I'm hosting two websites from the same hosting and it is a bit tiring my starter plan. Nowadays I'm getting the over used resources mail almost daily.

Please tell me how well does digital ocean go. If it costs a bit less or more performance with same cost, I'd be happy to switch.
