pxnji Sorry for the late response, forgot to reply! 👀 It's by default disabled until you enable this in the settings of the extension, that has changed since the release of version 1.0 and I forgot to update that in the extension description 🙂

If I am correct the QA problem should be fixed if you update to version 1.0.2. Empty answers are just warnings as when there is no answer yet. Google is just saying that they have indexed it but there is no answer supplied yet. Can you send me an example URL that I can check?

Hi @JasperVriends, I recently updated the extension to 1.0.2. However, I see the content in the text field is not stripping HTML tags.
Any help to fix this?

KushalAzza Hi Kushal! It's indeed not stripping HTML tags, the thought for this was that Google and other search engines may index the content better (images, texts and headings).

However, I couldn't find anything that says it should be text only, HTML or any other requirements for that field. So I'm not sure if the current implementation is wrong.

Any suggestions or thoughts?

JasperVriends I would interpret "text" as "text", otherwise it would be called content, html, or something like that

JasperVriends Thank you, Jasper! I thoroughly tested my own structure data results today (wasn't able earlier as structure data being validated by GSC).

Looks like Google itself stripping down the HTML tags while displaying in search results.

Your development seems to be a future-scoped if Google or any search engine includes HTML 🙂

matteocontrini Yeah thats true. I'll need to strip the markdown then shomehow. Otherwise I'll need to convert it into html and then strip the tags.

I'll need to think about that, at the moment I do not think it is harmfull as the search engines will strip the html tags (other then from markdown, markdown stays markdown in the search results)

Thanks for awesome extension @JasperVriends. Just the need of the hour. Can you please add the og:image tag also for the first image in the first post of the discussion via the Uploads extension? Otherwise Facebook Debugger gives this error:

The 'og:image' property should be explicitly provided, even if a value can be inferred from other tags.

Even though Facebook forcibly infers the og:image from the first img image, it still gives this error and other social networks are Telegram, Whatsapp, Twitter, etc. may not show the image at all. So please!

Someone contributed to the SEO plugin and is currently working on that feature. The PR is still open and waiting for some code changes ( https://github.com/v17development/flarum-seo/pull/24 ). Then it will be tested and merged.

So it's on it's way 🙂

JasperVriends Any ETA on this please? People are sharing my discussions all over on social networks and the og:image is becoming a problem. In fact, I don't add an image in the discussions because I think it may not show up everywhere. I think os555 has fixed it on github. Can you please approve it and release an update? Thanks.

FBI Thanks. Will this patch support the first images in the discussions uploaded and embedded via the Upload extension. with the [upload] code? I know they are converted into img src in the front-end so they should work but just confirming it. I hope your patch is added by @JasperVriends soon.

Yes, many many thanks to @JasperVriends and all those who have contributed and supported to make this superb extension a reality. It truly makes Flarum SEO on par to Wordpress or maybe even better in some ways. Google is showing "7 answers" below the links in the search snippets which is so so unique and which will increase the curiosity to click that link. Never seen it before. And also Google has perfectly indexed the text in all the replies in the discussion. I cannot thank enough. This extension makes all our efforts in posting to our Flarum forum worth it. Kudos!!!

nitaaikumar I worry about the speed of my server getting the assets images for OpenGraph fetcher, So I am using IMGUR extension as Upload. Because I like @matteocontrini using standard BBCode.. 😀

nitaaikumar Hi Nitaaikumar and others! Sorry for the late response, but at the moment I'm doing an internship 5 day a week and don't have much time left as I also need to work on school stuff at the same time (and also have some other jobs 😛 ). But shool goes first unfortunately...

If I find a gap in time I will try to update the plugin as soon as possible. That will be within two weeks as my next deadline for school is 9 december and I hope to have that done much earlier 😀

Patch the code, and voilaaaa.. OG is perfectly displayed over FB, twitter, whatsapp
