Forum's Landing page on the basis of location selected

Is there a way for asking user for his/her location first ,then show them the forum's main page but keep the recent updates from their location at the top. This would help for the user's who prefer seeing discussion in their native language.

Would allow for easy understanding to the users who prefers the content in their own language.
This can allow Flarum to extend its feature into more deeper level with people all over the world.
Just had this thought.

Do you have tags for each location? If not, how will we know what location the posts are from?

I know that is not possible to have tags for each location. Lets take this example
I have tags for all the states of my country (can be done )
Now when a user logs in the first screen that should pop up is the one asking about the states and let user select one (I need this bcoz my forum has this type of needs)

So you want a "Craigslist" style. I understand your need. That would be a neat extension to write. I could work on an extension for that. I've been wanting to write an extension for Flarum, guess this would be a good place to start.

TheyCallMeTojo so brother are you going to work on a geo-location based extension for the user? Or an extension where the user can select the location (category) just after registering and then he would be shown posts based on that location (category) only.
The latter case can be used for a lot of different purposes as well. For example, I categories my mosts based on languages. Since people who don't know a language other than English, won't like another language post to be shown to them. And showing tags page as homepage would beat the purpose of using a modern forum. Thus asking a user's preference just after registration and always showing him post list according to his preference would be best.

gurjyot Yes! I agree. I could hook into the registration process and allow the user to select their default 'location', or starting point.

If people could subscribe to (follow) tags and choose to have their Following page acting as the homepage, then you would come very close to your intended personalized homepage. As gurjyot pointed out, this could be useful for many more purposes.

The specific need for the purpose of this discussion would then be the modal to be presented to new users after registration.

TheyCallMeTojo I'd love to see this extension in action. I think, we kinda have two extensions related to registration, one is default group and one is doorman.

Doorman can already be used for language based contents by setting choice of groups and their tags for that purpose, but not in a way that the OP @AnoopSharma or @gurjyot wants, I think.
