Flarum on the DigitalOcean Marketplace ?

DigitalOcean just announced their Marketplace with one-click installs of popular application.

How about registering Flarum as a vendor there ?

There's already a "blogs and forums" section https://marketplace.digitalocean.com/category/blogs-and-forums and Discourse is already present https://marketplace.digitalocean.com/apps/discourse

Now it's just a matter of finding out what it takes to be compatible / how to get on there / where to find the time. 😉

I believe the vendor (in this case the Flarum core team?) directly registers with them https://marketplace.digitalocean.com/vendors

I believe anybody could publish a fork of Flarum as an app there as the vendor of that specific fork as well. It shouldn't be called Flarum though in that case.

And I think it would help getting more attention to Flarum.

Idea is great, but I'm not sure if Flarum is ready for that. Remember, that it is still beta software, and admins should be aware of that. Putting it to the marketplace will make people think, that is is stable, and in case of problems it will left them with a feeling, that is is bad software.

Yes that's something that should be made clear.

Me neither, that's why I think it needs discussing. Though it'll probably be the choice of the core team in the end anyway, unless the fork idea is used. But I don't think that would help Flarum much if a non-official Flarum ends up in the marketplace...

On a related subject I noticed the Discourse version available in the marketplace is not the stable one, it's the beta release of the next version so 🤷

Another update: We're in talks with DigitalOcean to get an entry in their marketplace. We scheduled a call to discuss further details.

debynory Mark73 This kind of thing will probably remain on pause until after we launch stable. Our goal right now is focus on the core product. Once we launch stable we can start to broaden our focus a bit more on other things.
