Howdy Everyone

I must thank the incredible job of all FLARUM's staff and it's collaborative community

My travel began the Nov '18 and since I'm not an expert, I requested and I kindly obtained a lot of helps by this great community, and in this days I put online https://blitz4x.com

I have still a lot of job to do... i.e. I must adapt the mobile version, but the desktop is operative and my users are slowly migrating

A brief summary

I tried with XAMP and WAMP in a windows VPS... but this solution can't be durable and above all it isn't reliable
I took a host with mylighthost.com but they blocked the php version to 7.0 and the cPanel Terminal... so I only lost my time (and my money)
Finally the BASIC ANNUAL PLAIN WITH FASTCOMET.COM with all I need: the free php selector, the installed composer so I can use the cPanel Terminal instead of the SSH

...and now the adventure begins !

Keep in mind that I'm just an amateur and I built a blog / forum with FLARUM around my job

So I present some solutions that seem useful to me, but probably for most of you they are obvious!

I added a custom header with a lot of graphics, this scrolled down the post page and hid the right sidebar

Then I simply worked on the css getting a nice effect that you see in the image, with the fixed sidebar and always above all the other graphic elements

I hope it can also be useful to others

I work with other patners and when they saw the new site in FLARUM ... nothing to do!

WordPress is the best (?) Because everyone uses it (???)

If in a flock all the sheep go the same way, who says it's the right direction?

So I found a good compromise to keep my FLARUM

I prepared the front page with WP so I made my patners happy, but I disabled the WP comments and I put FLARUM as FORUM / DISCUSSION

The job was very simple and also a poor skilled like me could do it

I create a subdirectory named wp-flarum and I directly copied all FLARUM original site

I put in FLARUM config.php the new address

I create a WP page named Discussioni/Forum and I get the permalink https://blitz4x.com/discussioni-forum/

I put in WordPress .htaccess the permanent redirect

Redirect 301 /discussioni-forum/ https://blitz4x.com/wp-flarum/

So now you can see the WP front page at https://blitz4x.com and you can use the links or the direct access to https://blitz4x.com/wp-flarum

A final note: I read that for SEO purposes is preferable the subdir and to keep the full address instead of a separate subdomain (that is managed as a new site and this splits the audience)

Of course I'm grateful to the most experienced users (basically all of you!) if you can share a better solution

In the first image the WP front page with the links to FLARUM and below the FLARUM board... it looks like a single site!

UziForex why create an unused page and a redirect ? Can't you just put a custom link in your wordpress menu to the Flarum subfolder ? 🤔

Also I'm not sure who you're trying to fool with /wp-flarum, wp has probably no functional purpose and the name of the forum software is right in the url 😛 . Why not just use /forum or something like that?

I'm sorry, I explained myself wrongly

WordPress is not a static page but it is a complete blog edited by me and my partners

The difference is that there are no wordpress or disqus or similar comments, but the links to FLARUM

The folder name is to ...ehm... hide FLARUM to my co-workers !!!

Normally you use WordPress as a blog and bbPress or another embeded forum, with the joint user management of WP

I instead put WordPress only as a blog in which I write myself and my partners, users can only read

Instead, registration, user management and discussions are all entrusted to FLRUM

This is a very useful idea, in particular for SEO purpose, since your solution melts FLARUM folder in WP permalinks

Ha ha ha ... lol!

The problem was solved by itself

As soon as my co-workers saw the difference between the markdown and the hateful WordPress new blocks editor

Now WP is in the trash and FLARUM is the first page of presentation, I'm just adapting it a bit, then only we can open the new discussions so the first post is the article/blog

Who wants to comment continues the discussion and the system works beautifully

In the image a subdomain where I am trying GRAV, I want to copy the header and then you scroll down and FLARUM will compare

Howdy and thanks for your interest

On Monday 03.25 we'll start with a new version of the software package for our customers (all mql4 for Metatrader) so I deleted the old discussions to avoid confusion and because we talk about the previsions for the financial day and every evening I close all the threads

For us the old discussions have any further importance or relevance

Beside the new version of our software package kept me busy and I couldn't set the grav-like featured image header

My partners and I have been working together for over 30 years

Obviously we do not discuss nor we quarrel ... I simply let things go on their own

In the end all of my co-workers admitted that FLARUM IS THE BEST SOFTWARE, BOTH AS GRAPHICS, HOW TO USE, AS ADAPTABILITY

It's the best FORUM but if you really want, just put in the permissions that only administrators can open new threads and you have a BLOG, the first post and the article and then who wants to comment and continue, much better than the original Wordpress comments or of Disqus

So eventually both Wordpress and phpbb disappeared, and FLARUM IS THE WINNER !!!

Since it is proving to be solid and reliable even in production, now you can see it at the main address https://blitz4x.com with no more subdomains or subforders

Howdy, I took seriously matteocontrini's advises so I had to clarify the situation

matteocontrini is really expert in the matter and he is absolutely right

In fact, our website https://blitz4x.com is NOT on behalf of the Company but we present ourselves as private individuals

We provide general advices on financial investments and we chat with the users, then we go into depth in private with those interested in personalized assistance

But this happens outside the forum and only if the interested party takes the initiative, European legislation does not allow direct advertising of high-risk financial investments

Therefore the formula for cookies is correct as our lawyer has studied it!

Thanks for your help... and for the fantastic flexibility of FLARUM

Now I'm studying the extensions... but it will be a very very long job for me!

Despite we talk about serious high-risk financial investments, FLARUM's flexibility allows me an excellent graphic presentation, that plays down and makes my production site more friendly, only using the custom Header and CSS

A few posts higher you can find my Header and CSS ... if you like them or as a base for yours

(A note... I'll have to optimize it for small devices... for now it's well rendered in desktop/tablets sizes)
