You're responsible for keeping the installation up to date, even if it means getting your hands dirty with raw sql mutations and the kind. Under normal circumstances this won't be needed. Also if you encounter issues with your outdated installation our first response would be to update it, because it would take too much time to support all obsoleted version 😉
Having said that, our formal standpoint is to not use it in production (yet).
