Can't Install Extension

I put extension folder into flarum/extensions using sftp but now when I activate the extension it gives me a 500 server error! Wht to do?

chirag You have to use composer in ssh/bash to get an extension working properly. Composer automatically generates a "map" of all code, without using composer the code in the extension will not be available to Flarum.

written in add new so i thought that would work

chirag The text you quoted is old, dating back to before Flarum started using Composer. I adjusted it after the first time it caused problems (as luceos mentioned); that change will be in the next beta release. In the meantime, follow the specific instructions provided with the extension you want to install.
