Hi Flarum community,
New user here. I was just wondering how to get the Facebook login working.

I was just wondering how I get the sign-in via Facebook function working. The Facebook extension is added and ticked, however I'm having difficulty completing the configuration in Facebook for Developers.

My forum is located (localhost, running via XAMPP), http://localhost/flarum/public// with Facebook authorisation files appearing to be located in flarum/vendor/flarum/auth-facebook.

Facebook recommends amending some files, however I cannot locate them. The guide posted by another flarum user seems somewhat out of date. Does anyone know if there's a more recent version of the guide?

olivergt1995 Not sure if you have tried this... but extension settings are usually located on the Extensions page, if you click on the dots of an installed extension, there will be a button to open the settings if it has one.

That's where you add the Application ID and Secret.

Sorry for putting the wrong tag. Kinda new to flarum. 😅
I have amended those settings, I'm more confused by the settings on the actual Facebook for Developers page.

For example, when trying to add a domain to the Domain Manager section, the button to apply appears greyed out.

olivergt1995 Ah, I see. Not sure if this is your issue, but happened to me right now:

Maybe that's a way to fix it? Not sure why it doesn't say anything about why it won't let you add the domain.

Deactivating the JavaScript and CSS option does now allow me to select the apply option. I'm assume that the flarum URL (in my case, http://localhost/flarum/public//) is what goes in this field? If not, could you advise me what does go in this field, and maybe some of the other fields?

Hello Flarum Community!

I was just wondering if anyone could help me enable sign in via Facebook, Twitter, GitHub and Google. I'm puzzled as to what I must do on the applications developers websites (e.g. Facebook for Developers).

I've installed and have enabled the extensions, but am presented with an error stating "This site can’t be reached localhost refused to connect."

The forum is running locally on a XAMPP server, installed via composer. The URL of the forum is http://localhost/classroom/public//. I was wondering as to whether signing in via a third party software was possible on a local host, as the developer websites don't seem to accept the domain/url?

olivergt1995 For oauth extensions, you usually need to use a callback URL in the developer app (on the respective site like Facebook).

For Facebook, Twitter and Github, these are:
Facebook: mydomain/auth/facebook
Twitter : mydomain/auth/twitter
Github: mydomain/auth/github

I don't expect this will work with localhost, since these sites will need to pass data to and from the site it needs to be online somewhere.

Actually, it should work, because the oauth provider never tries to call any url on the app. It only sends a redirect there with data as part of the url. The app then performs a request to the provider with the given data. So you can usually use oauth logins locally for testing.

However localhost domain might not be accepted by the app. Or you might need to use an HTTPS url for it to be accepted.

Both can be solved by setting a domain alias to localhost and using a self-signed certificate.

Okay so my flarum is now located on a webserver at www.gibberd-thomas.co.uk, however with the updated facebook for developers info, it simply says:
Forbidden
You do not have permission to access this document.
Web Server at gibberd-thomas.co.uk

The control panel for the webserver is Plesk. Is there something that must be done in Plesk for it to work?
