ask2seenu may i know what is folder permission needed for the flarum installer folder before and after installation of flarum?
This shouldn't be thought of access permission first, but ownership. So which files the webserver user can read or write.
For installation the webserver user must be able to write in the Flarum root folder, in assets
and in storage
. For production it doesn't need to write to the root folder anymore (it's just to create config.php
.
The best solution is to chown
the Flarum directory to the webserver user, like www-data
. Then the web server will be able to write to any file, but this will not open writing to other server users. If you really can't change the owner of the Flarum files, changing access to the files might be justified, but again, the ideal value depends which users owns the file and which runs the web server, so you can use the most restricted one. I don't think 755 is enough because this doesn't let another user write to the files.
