Create a Forum software like Flarum

I was asking myself this: how do I create a forum software like Flarum? The real question is: how will I be able to fully understand every function of Flarum, in term of codes? I mean, could you please list me all the resources/languages that I'll need to know in order to be able to completely understand/be able to edit Flarum or to be able to create a software like this?

I really don't want to create a software like this, I only need to be able to fully customize Flarum in future. ?
So let's say:

Fully understand of PHP,
// of MySQL

This is so true and I hate it. Just today Toby helped me solve an issue that was solved by a simple misunderstanding of the way m.redraw() works.

Dakoom Also, if you don't have a basic understanding of PHP, JS, CSS, HTML, JQuery, or Git, I would highly recommend taking the free courses at https://www.codecademy.com/. They're awesome, and I've recommended them to a bunch of friends.

I believe @Franz has a Flarum development environment setup tool around here somewhere, it might be in one of the early dev discussions. This is also a good resource for general Flarum development, but there's a lot more you're missing on your list. Javascript, composer, JSX (I believe this handles the UX on the javascript side), OOP (which isn't a language but a design philosophy), Laravel, and a few other big libraries/dependencies that flarum hooks into.

You don't need full understanding of any of those languages, what you need is:

Perseverance, devs can get stuck at an issue for days caused by a simple typo.
Patience, an answer or solution sometimes takes its time.
Something you want to code. Take small steps. For example take a look at the good for new contributors issues for flarum/core.
Look at the proposed documentation, for instance this thread seems to work well.
Join the gitter developer chat and ask short, specific questions.
