User registration not working.

Hello all,
I installed Flarum on our website and somehow the user registration is not working.
I always get the error message 'Oops! Something went wrong. Please reload the page and try again.'
Apparently, the email is not going to the user and thus they cannot register.
I searched the forum for solutions and found a hack of manually changing the parameters in the database to get the user account working. However, that won't work if the user wants to reset the password, as the email still won't go through. I've added the appropriate smtp settings as well in the database. Kindly help me out.

zuber99 your email configuration is incorrect, please post that without showing the credentials.

This is my email configuration:

mail_driver: smtp
mail_host: mail.smtp2go.com
mail_port: 2525
mail_encryption: ssl

Also, I'm unable to load the email settings in the admin panel. I entered these manually in the database.

Note: TLS/SSL is optional. TLS is available on the same ports. SSL is available on ports 465 and 8465.

For mail_encryption use tls

Hi, I'm using the Gmail SMTP and couldn't make it to work, my settings are:
mail_driver: smtp
mail_host: smtp.gmail.com
mail_port: 587
mail_encryption: tls

Don't know what is wrong with this setup but still can't send confirmation email to registered account
FYI I used FlarumPro to host flarum
