Moving posts to another flarum site

I have spun up another technology related forum mentioned here and seeing as there is a significant section of posts that reside in the current forum I'd like to move, I wondered if there was a simple way to do this other than recreate the original threads and replies using a SQL script. I'd need to re-map various fields such as the user ID's for example...

One other thing I want to do is to map those responses where there is no matching account to anonymous - not sure if Flarum will support this ?

[deleted] I don't think we have any available solution for this. You will have to write the script yourself.

You might also be able to perform the read/write actions via the Flarum API.

If you were moving the whole forum, you could copy the complete database over, and start from there on the new website. It would overwrite anything already created on the new forum though.

Yes, but I'm not moving the whole forum unfortunately. I have a wide range of posts in the new forum which obviously I want to keep.

I will also read up on the Flarum API though for an automated news feed I'm looking at creating

Hi @[deleted], I remember you and your other site from wpForo forums. I'm impressed, as I was then with wpForo.

What happened to your old community? If I remember well, it was a pretty active one.

hrvoje_hr It's still there at https://discuss.guruwall.com - it's not going anywhere. The new site is essentially splitting off the infosec stuff to it's own dedicated site.

hrvoje_hr actually, the last community I had running under wpForo was inocul8r.net which is now (mostly) defunct. I shut it down because wpForo was simply too restrictive and developed at a snails pace - admittedly, it was seen into WordPress, but I took another route. The main site is WordPress, but the discuss site is pure flarum. The main site doesn't accept logins.

I'm following Flarum and excepting stable version for a few years now, but I'm not thinking about migration until some kind of WP-Flarum integration. I love Flarum and cant wait to migrate, but at this moment I'm stuck with wpForo.

Was it hard to convert tables to Flarum?

hrvoje_hr not really. But it is a very manual process and involves field mapping - particularly user id's and replies etc.

Flarum is light years ahead of wpForo.
