This isn't a supported installation method, by the way. You should review our installation instructions and use the methods defined there. If you are unable to use Composer, it has a link to Pockethold there, which is often a suitable alternative for shared hosting.
As far as specific 500 errors, these are often found in your webserver error.log files. Those will tell you the specific error that occurred and any other information to help pinpoint the source.
