Number of posts in a discussion not rounded correctly (or at all)

The tooltip makes sense. What I could see as an alternative to satisfy obvious needs mentioned in this thread is to use: ~2k with the ~ meaning of "around".

However I am not that strongly opinionated on this matter, I see no issue how it is now.

Also I think an extension to format only one line is not nonsense. Extensions/packages grow over time and can show different configurable things too.

EDIT: It did change with 2,001 posts. Why not with 2,000?

Pretty sure that's the number of replies, so that actually makes sense. That's why you see a "0" in the discussion list when you create a new topic.
(And trust me, it's much more confusing when the number also includes the deleted posts, like for us admins, haha.)

I was reading this today which suggests rounding down but then using the word "over" as in "I have over 1300 books"... what if we appended a plus sign to the post count as in 2K+ ?

Toby It would be more intuitive if we're working with lower bounds for sure. By the way: Did you think about localization of this particular string? I don't know if it's a habit in other languages to just use one letter to describe the number of zeroes behind a number.
In German at some point you would just write 1 million instead of 1,000,000 (as long as it doesn't have mathematical but more information-driven context). But you wouldn't say 1k; only netcitizens/nerds/gamers/etc. understand that properly.
