Directory not writable

Directory not writable while trying to install flarum. I already rewrite the directory to 775. I even tried 777, still the same error. Please help me solve this, thanks.

jordanjay29 Wanted to install Flarum( Ubuntu+Nginx) and I have the same issue. Glad I found this post to not duplicate it here.

Unfortunatelly I did all the above, I guess, and the error message is still prompting on the install page. Both asset and storage folders have: Access: (0775/drwxrwxr-x) Uid: ( 33/www-data) Gid: ( 33/www-data)

Any help would be much appreciated.

Please chmod this directory and its contents to 0775.

Please chmod this directory and its contents to 0775.
The /var/www/html/storage directory is not writable.
Please chmod this directory and its contents to 0775.

Thanks, fixed it too --- it required the following on CentOS 7:

sudo chgrp apache /var/www/html
sudo chgrp -R apache /var/www/html/assets
sudo chgrp -R apache /var/www/html/extensions
sudo chgrp -R apache /var/www/html/storage
sudo chmod 775 /var/www/html
sudo chmod -R 775 /var/www/html/assets
sudo chmod -R 775 /var/www/html/extensions
sudo chmod -R 775 /var/www/html/storage

I had the same problem and the solution didn't work for me. In the end, I changed the permissions to 777 instead and it worked!

CentOS 7 + nignx can fixed it with:
chgrp apache -R /var/www/html
chmod -R 775 /var/www/html

I don't understand why we must set user 'apache'，but it works

JacquesLim because user "apache" is the web context. In Ubuntu (for example), this would be www-data and would also be necessary for the web server to be able to read and write.
