Flarum is most definitely free, however other things you may need to set up your own instance of Flarum may cost money such as hosting.

There are no costs involved with Flarum itself.

There is no package to download to set up your own instance. You will have to follow the steps provided on this page which will outline the best method to set up Flarum via Composer.

There have been other ways to install Flarum but this is the one we support and recommend. You can search this forum for other ways of installing Flarum on other platforms.

Flarum does not provide official hosting through the project. We are not affiliated with Free Flarum, and this is a community product offering. It's a great start for new projects however. Alternatively, any hosting with composer and SSH support will work fine for you.
