Support for .xcf, .svg

.xcf is the GIMP format, .svg is generic but Inkscape uses it too. I was wondering whether at some point Flarum will add support for adding these as attachments or embedded it in posts just like jpeg or png.

Isn't XCF similar to PSD in that it saves the image layers primarily for editing purposes? Can browsers even render XCF or PSDs natively?

SVG seems reasonable since that's already widely used by browsers and websites around the web. I'm not certain if Flarum handles these embeds natively, however, this might require a code change in s9e/TextFormatter.

.xcf is .psd equivalent of GIMP. I think I have seen a forum or two ( phpBB or MyBB ) where when you attach the SVG, it will be an inline-image. I am not sure, but some forum did the same with XCF too.

PS : If you use Ubuntu, you can see thumbnails for xcf and svg in file manager.

If you're talking about Flagrow Upload, it should be possible already with the correct mime type (there probably won't be previews though)

For embedding links to these kind of files, an extension should be able to add the feature to the TextFormatter, similar to how the autoimage and autovideo features work.

Since Flarum is a FOSS, I thought we should support Libre Graphics formats if possible. These files, while saving, ask whether to add a thumbnail or not. By default, it is " Add Thumbnail ". I hope we can make use of that.

I am not sure about whether it is Flagrow Upload or native Flarum which handles this. But as long as we can use these formats as attachments, I would be very happy to have it. 🙂
