Any way to autoupdate new posts in discussion view?

I've searched Discuss for the solution, but all I've found is "it's possible" with help of Pusher or websockets without affecting server resources too much.

Did anyone manage to do something like this? Or improvise something? Any advice?

I have one locked Flarum instance with 10 pretty active friends on 1GB VPS and looking for some kind of solution to make the discussion more streamlined without the need to refresh constantly.

hrvoje_hr get a free account at pusher.com, install and enable the flarum/pusher extension. New posts on discussions you have open are now automatically rendered.

luceos I have it installed and properly configured, but never seen it work in the discussion view. Only on All Discussion page.

I haven't seen it here too. I will have this window open until next reply 🙂

hrvoje_hr I haven't seen it misbehave. If it doesn't render new messages automatically, it's most likely a bug 🙈

I'm sorry, it really works on my site too! Now I see it.

If anyone comes here trough the search, the solution is the native Pusher extension. You can create a free account https://pusher.com/ which will work for free until 100 concurrent connections (which is a lot).

@luceos actually, the problem is within the discussion in private tag. For discussions which are not public pusher doesn't work. Any way to bypass that?

hrvoje_hr as I mentioned in the other discussion https://discuss.flarum.org/d/16421-pusher-problem-when-discussions-are-hidden-form-public , I don't think that's implemented in the Pusher extension.

You could create your own extension that adds a new private channel for each user and pushes posts they can see in there.
