I've been following every possible video and tutorial to set this on, locally and on cpanel, and both times I've come across this issue: Not sure what to do to stop this from happening.

You need to append /public to your root directory. The tutorials your following are probably prior to beta8

clarkwinkelmann Ah, I see. Had to cd to the proper directory. Now I'm getting this error: If there's any other information you need to further help me, just let me know. I am using Cpanel, but I have access to SSH/Terminal, FTP, majority of everything.

addtocartips Ty. Will figure that out. For cname's and what not, I own the domain mctve.com, and that's more of a portal. I'm trying to setup the flarum forum which can currently be accessed with mctve.com/forums/public, but is there a way to set that up to be discuss.mctve.com without the extra roots like /forums and /public? Or will I need to change where it is in public_html?

Dovah the server is missing the php extension called fileinfo. Enable that phpenmod fileinfo for instance on some environments.

luceos Beautiful! That got it fixed. Something that has been an issue since install, icons (?) aren't showing up, just little boxes. Not quite sure what they are, but all over the pages.

Dovah run php flarum migrate if it throws an error copy that here. The migrate command also publishes the font awesome font files to the public directory.

luceos Worked nicely. Thanks for that! Been playing around with extensions, seems profile pictures broke. Is there any known issues caused by extensions that do this? Or any commands to run to try and fix it? Still got tons to learn, will definitely be looking more into this tomorrow and the following week.

This is not something I heard before, what exactly is broken? They are now missing, uploading doesn't work or avatars never worked?

luceos Both profile pictures and the favicon (which worked just a bit ago) are not displaying. I can still upload files to the profile picture, but it draws null (as seen in the picture) once it's finished uploading.

Dovah seems that public/assets/avatars isn't having the right permissions, in general the whole public/assets directory should be writable by the web/php user.

luceos Perhaps I did mess something up. Was trying to play around with the files earlier to get rid of the /public root, and just have it as the domain of "mctve.com" or change /public to /forums - but no luck. Where do I go about to edit the permissions for public/assets?

Dovah if you removed the public directory, the assets directory now lives in your root. You'll need to make sure the permissions for that folder is AOK. Can you screen capture or copy paste the output of ls -la in that directory?
