Replace spaces in username URLS to dashes

Hello,

I integrated my website with flarum and copied all usernames, passwords,... to the database of flarum.
However it seems that flarum doesn't support spaces, while my main site script does. At this moment all users that have spaces in them don't have a working profile URL (they can login fine though).

I was wondering if there is a solution somehow to fix their profile URLs

Applepiee they also can't be mentioned. Better would be to normalize these usernames so they pass the Flarum standards. That would also fix your profile issue.

luceos So you're saying I should remove all spaces from main site also? I have 200,000 accounts, and changing their username means they won't be able to login anymore.

Applepiee Yes, you probably should post a warning to your users that on X date your going to do site maintenance and afterwords they will need to use an underscore or dash or whatever you chooses in place of a space to login afterwords. There are no plans at this time to support spaces in usernames in Flarum and to my knowledge there are no extensions that change this functionality.

If users are used to login with the username and are unlikely to read a blog post or whatever before their next login, you could:

Rename the login field to "email", that way they won't try the username at all
Create an extension that replaces a space by an underscore in the login request, therefore still allowing login with spaces, but nothing else
